On June 10, a delegation of leaders from COSCO SHIPPING Kawasaki (Nantong) Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. paid a visit to Wuxi Hanshen Electric Co., Ltd. for inspection, research and on-site equipment testing. To fully test the equipment under actual working conditions, the visitors brought special carbon steel workpieces for on-site welding tests. The handheld laser welder delivered smooth and firm welds with minimal thermal deformation, eliminating much of the subsequent grinding work and fully meeting the precision welding standards for ship components. The leaders also operated the equipment in person, and spoke highly of its light weight, flexibility, accessibility to narrow spaces and special-shaped components, as well as outstanding welding stability.
The delegation also showed great interest in Hanshen’s laser cleaning machines and laser-arc hybrid welding systems. Featuring high efficiency and eco-friendliness without damaging base materials, laser cleaning equipment efficiently removes rust, paint and oil stains from steel plates and weld seams. It serves as an ideal replacement for traditional sandblasting and pickling processes, and is widely used in pre-weld treatment, hull renovation and maintenance.
Tailored for sectional plate welding, the laser-arc hybrid welding system combines the advantages of laser deep penetration welding and arc welding. It is well suited for long welds on medium and thick plates, enabling one-side welding with back formation. This technology effectively controls welding deformation, greatly improves working efficiency and cuts costs on welding consumables and labor, making it an optimal solution for plate welding in high-end shipbuilding.
